NEWS FROM THE SPECIAL MEETING THIS WEEK!
Several of us met at the Cricket Pavilion last night to listen to Tim Mills lay out his plans for St Augustine's Church.
His vision is that the two Churches of St Mary's in Ticehurst and St Augustine's in Flimwell should compliment each other with a program of services which do not compete and do not clash with each other.
He would like to see two 9.30am services a month at St Augustine's Church Flimwell. This will start in May
The first would be an informal Holy Communion Service on the 2nd Sunday of the month. This may include a band, lead by Antony Pitts, which would lead the singing.
Another informal service may take place on this Sunday if Tim is unable to be present to take the Holy Communion.
The second morning service would be on the 4th Sunday of the month and this would be the traditional Holy Communion service we are currently enjoying.
The PCC at St Mary's in Ticehurst have generously agreed to change the timetable of their services to help Tim with his travelling time between services at our two Churches. Information about these changes will appear soon.
We should be thankful to the Ticehurst PCC for their help.
This timetable would mean there is a Holy Communion Service on each of the Sundays of the month, except for the 5th Sunday. So if someone is keen to go only to a Holy Communion Service they can and we will not be competing with each other.
Tim also came up with an entirely new idea a' CAFE CHURCH.' This would be held at the Ticehurst and Flimwell Primary School at 4.30pm on the third Sunday of the month.
This is an informal event with coffee/ tea/ cakes/ biscuits etcÊ People would sit around tables in the main hall chatting. There would be a talk, the showing of a short DVD, some singing and prayers. Children could enjoy their own activities with arts and crafts.
The idea is to reach out to people who might not otherwise come to Church.
This would also of course be open to all of us.
There was also a reminder to people to put their names down for the Electoral Roll for St Augustine's. This needs to be done within the next couple of weeks.
Our Church needs a healthy Electoral Roll to show we mean business to the Diocese. So if you have not enrolled yet please do so. You can not vote if you are not on the Roll.
Also if you fancy being on the PCC then you need to fill in a form. Both Electoral Roll forms and PCC forms can be acquired at the service at St Augustine's this Sunday 15th March.
If you can not make the service then you should contact Jean Horn on 01580 754280 and she will send you one.
St Augustine's APCM is on Wednesday 22nd April at 7.30pm at the Cricket Pavilion. Please come along and vote for your NEW PCC!!
You may be interested to know that the 'Alpha Course' has had its third meeting at the Bull Ticehurst and is going well. There are 19 of us on this course; a very healthy and encouraging number.
These are exciting times for our Church so let us all work together to build on what we have.
See you on Sunday!
