Garden of Remembrance - gardening maintenanceLast month we asked via the village magazine, News and Views, for volunteers to help in the Garden of Remembrance (attatched to the church yard)So many people approached me afterwards and volunteered that I have forgotten all their names, but I am extremely grateful, and realise once again how lucky we are to live in such a supportive village. The weather on the first Saturday of November was quite impossible, so I look forward to meeting up with as many as can make it around 2 p.m. on Dec 6th, if the weather is more favourable. However, several people said they would be happy to potter about there by themselves with edge or hedge clippers as the mood takes them, and that is just lovely too. I feel that it should be easy to keep on top of it all with such a willing team. Many thanks also to those who strimmed and tidied the new part of the grave yard all through the summer and autumn - it really looks cared for now, and makes such a difference. Sincerely, Sheila Minet |
